A catalogue published in Italian and English by Skira for the one-man exhibition held by Enrico Castellani in the Spazio Risonanza at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome from 2 December 2006 to 12 January 2007. Enrico Castellani was not only involved with this exhibition, forming part of the project titled Arte e Musica per Santa Cecilia promoted by the Accademia Santa Cecilia, ideated and curated by Federica Tittarelli, but also saw him create a work for this occasion produced in a series of one hundred pieces. He was accompanied by Uto Ughi with a live performance for the inauguration, documented by an audio CD which forms part of the catalogue. The volume includes an introductory essay by Marcello Smarrelli, texts by Graziella Lonardi Bontempo and Maria Teresa Venturini Fendi, interviews by Marcello Smarrelli with Achille Bonito Oliva, Tommaso Fontana, Marion Franchetti, Peter Sartogo and Milena Ugolini, photographs of all of the works on exhibit, a selection of works conserved in prestigious Roman collections, a list of the artist’s principal one-man and group exhibitions and a referential bibliography.
This volume, edited by Bruno Corà and promoted by SACE, accompanied Enrico Castellani’s exhibition held at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow from 2 December 2005 to 15 January 2006 which inaugurated the museum’s new Pavilion of Contemporary Art. Here the artist exhibited paintings, relief canvases, sculptures and installations – which covered Castellani’s methodological-artistic career. The volume published in Italian, English and Russian is enriched by an introductory essay by Bruno Corà, a dialogue between Corà and Gillo Dorfles and with the republication of a text by the latter of 1991 (revised) titled Quarant’anni con l’opera di Enrico Castellani. A considerable part of the volume contains the photographs of the works on exhibit, an accurate biography with the artist’s one-man and group exhibitions, monographs treating his work, publications of a general kind.
Forming part of the Percorsi 1 series, the catalogue was published on the occasion of the exhibition held at the Studio Fontaine in Viterbo from 30 April to 13 May 2006 with works by Enrico Castellani and photographs by Sabina Scapin. The publication contains a text by Marcello Carriero and a series of photographs taken by Sabina Scapin – black & white and in colour – of both the exhibition and of Enrico Castellani at work in his studio in Celleno.
The catalogue in both Slovak and English was published on the occasion of Enrico Castellani’s one-man exhibition. This was organised by Getulio Alviani and housed in the rooms of the Mùzeum Milana Dobeša in Bratislava from 11 April to 30 September 2006. Besides the republication of Castellani’s text titled Continuità e nuovo, written by the artist in 1960 for the second number of the review “Azimuth”, the catalogue also contains an essay by Rachele Ferrario.
A periodical with German text by Iris Simone Engelke published by Zeitverlag Beteiligungs GmbH & Co. The publication forms part of the series titled Künstler Lexikon der Gegenwartskunst. It has numerous colour photographs of Castellani’s works created between 1958 and 2006 and is part of a series of monographs dedicated to international artists: from among these we can mention the Italian artists Carla Accardi, Piero Dorazio and Francesco Lo Savio.
Opus Incertum. Mostra in sette situazioni is a catalogue published by Franca Mancini forming part of the Les rencontres Rossiniennes, organised starting from 1980 by the Associazione “Il teatro degli Artisti” in collaboration with the Assessorato del Comune di Pesaro, the Rossini Opera Festival, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pesaro and the Assessorato alla Cultura della Regione Marche. The exhibition project foresaw “seven situations”. The exhibition inaugurated on 10 August 2002 which in the Galleria di Franca Mancini in Pesaro was divided into stages, in an installation conceived by the artist, one had “Uno Spartito”, “Le sparite”, “Tre quadri”, “Quattro fiori”, “Cinque vocali” and “Sette le Note”. Besides the photographs of the works on exhibit the volume contains texts by Bruno Cagli, Paolo Fabbri and a piece especially written for the occasion by Enrico Castellani.
Published by the Galleria Fumagalli on the occasion of Enrico Castellani’s one-man exhibition in Bergamo from 29 September to 19 November 2001, the volume which was graphically coordinated by Gianfranco Pardi includes an essay by Silvia Evangelisti and a text by Annamaria Maggi. Characterised by an extensive B & W photographic documentation, the volume includes a series of photographs of exhibitions held in public spaces or private galleries made since the 1960s. The cover image is by Antonia Mulas, while inside the volume there are photographs (from among the many authors) by Aurelio Amendola, Carlo Chiavacci, Giorgio Colombo, George Gorge Cserna, Salvatore Licitra, Uliano Lucas, Nataly Maier, Attilio Maranzano, Ugo Mulas, Paolo Mussat Sartor, Giovanni Ricci, Riccardo Toffoletti and Giuseppe Varchetta.
An extensive monograph published on the occasion of Enrico Castellani’s one-man exhibition housed in the new exhibition spaces of the Prada Foundation in Milan from 26 April to 14 June 2001. The project, curated by German Celant, focuses on the first period of Castellani’s artistic activity and presented seventy works created between 1958 and 1970. The large volume contains a series of critical texts treating Castellani’s work and the context in which it developed. The texts are by Germano Celant, Angela Vettese, Bruno Corà, Anty Pansera, Adachiara Zevi, Marco Meneguzzo and Maria Teresa Roberto. The publication also includes an up-to-date bibliography, the writings by the artist published up until 1970 and a wealth of photographic documentation in colour and B & W of all of the works on exhibit, many of which comparatively unknown. The volume closes with a chronology compiled by Anna Costantini, that besides the historical events of interest also illustrate Castellani’s principal one-man and group exhibitions. The English edition of the volume was also employed as the catalogue for the one-man exhibition curated by Germano Celant housed in the spaces of Kettle’s Yard at the University of Cambridge from 4 May to 23 June 2002.
Catalogue published by Gabriele and Bianca Mazzotta on the occasion of Enrico Castellani’s large anthological exhibition curated by Vittoria Coen held in the spaces of the Galleria Civica di Arte Contemporanea in Trent from 20 March to 16 May 1999. The volume in Italian and English contains a critical text by Vittoria Coen, an extensive critical anthology and a selection of more than one hundred colour and B & W photographs of works created by the artist between 1959 and 1998. The volume also includes a text by Fernando Melani written in May 1983 which is followed by biographical data, a list of the artist’s principal one-man and group exhibitions and a referential bibliography.
A volume with a long critical text by Adriano Sofri, published by Danilo Montanari Editore and forming part of the Opera series directed by Bruno Corà who also wrote the introduction to the volume. By way of colour and B & W photographs by Paolo Mussat Sartor the publication documents the artist’s one-man exhibition held from 9 to 24 September 1989 conceived for the spaces of the Commenda di Sant’Eufrosino in the Volpaia Castle in Radda in Chianti where between the close of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s Luciano Pistoi organised some memorable exhibitions.
